Old Highway 2 Trail

CROSS-COUNTRY SKI TRAIL, NATIONAL FOREST TRAIL |

Old Highway 2 Trail is part of the old highway from Libby to Troy. It is an easy hike or bike and offers spectacular views of the Kootenai River. Although an old dirt road that is now overgrown with softwoods and wildflowers, the path may be easily followed.

Length: 2 miles Trail Begins: Montana Highway 56 and Shannon Lake Road Junction Trail Ends: Picnic area

Trail closed yearlong to all motorized vehicles.

  • From Troy, travel south 3 miles on US Highway 2. Turn onto Montana 56 and follow for approximately 2 miles to the Shannon Lake Junction Turn and follow 0.3 mile to the parking area.
