Experience one of Montana’s most authentic and time-honored traditions at the Helmville Labor Day Rodeo, taking place September 6–7, 2026. Often called the “biggest little rodeo in Montana,” this beloved annual event brings together top regional competitors and a tight-knit local crowd for two unforgettable days of rodeo action in the heart of western Montana.
Held over Labor Day weekend, the rodeo features all the classics—bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, roping events, and crowd-favorite competitions like wild cow milking and kids’ sheep riding. Sunday highlights top bareback riders, while Monday showcases some of the best saddle bronc talent in the region. The atmosphere is laid-back, lively, and deeply rooted in Montana’s ranching culture.
Beyond the arena, visitors can enjoy food vendors, cold drinks, and a classic community dance on Sunday night at the Helmville Community Hall—making this more than just a rodeo, but a full weekend experience.
