Torrents Presents Artist Talk Featuring Jennifer Baylis, Katrina Ruhmland, and Gail Trenfield
Missoula, MT – Torrents is pleased to announce an engaging artist talk featuring Jennifer Baylis, Katrina Ruhmland, and Gail Trenfield, all currently featured in our latest exhibition.
In the main gallery space Jennifer Baylis presents her solo show "An Inward Gaze" in the main gallery. Known for her oil paintings that blend classical realism with expressive brushwork, Baylis focuses on figural subjects. Her current series reflects a deeply personal exploration of emotional and spiritual reconciliation with her mother's Alzheimer's disease and declining health. The tension in her figures' diverted gazes brings to light the inevitability of change, prompting viewers to confront their own avoidance mechanisms.
In "Moving Through," the exhibition also showcases the diverse talents of mixed media artist Katrina Ruhmland and painter Gail Trenfield. Despite their stylistic differences, both artists weave narratives that explore themes of time and interconnectedness. Ruhmland delves into the enduring essence of time across past, present, and future, examining the elemental ties that bind us. Trenfield, meanwhile, contemplates the passage of time and its unsettling impact on the natural world, whether gradual or immediate.
The artist talk is scheduled for July 24th at the Confluence Center, located at 119 W Main St, Missoula, MT, starting at 6:30pm. The exhibition will be on display through July 27th and can be viewed by appointment through the Center by calling 406-926-6526.
