Mammoth Area: Beaver Ponds Loop Trail

NATIONAL PARK TRAIL | Yellowstone National Park

Length: 5.4 miles

Trailhead: The sign labeled "Sepulcher Beaver Ponds" is at the south end of the parking lot labeled “Restroom Parking” at Mammoth Terrace. Old Gardiner Road is at the gate for the road behind the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel.

You can start this hike near Mammoth Terrace or near the old Gardiner Road. Enjoy the hydrothermal terraces as you head up the hill. Take a right at the junction and head towards the namesake ponds. Look for elk, mule deer, pronghorn, moose, beaver, and waterfowl. Past the ponds, the trail descends to the trailhead at old Gardiner Road. (Be alert for bears as both black and grizzly bears forage in this area.)
