Swede Mountain Lookout

NATIONAL FOREST DAY AREA |

From Swede Mountain Lookout the visitor is able to see the Libby valley, Kootenai River valley, and east face of the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness. This is a very popular day trip with spectacular scenic opportunities. This lookout is manned annually from approximately July 1 to September 30, depending on the fire season. Before July and after September the gate will be locked, so the visitor will need to park on the road and hike 1.25 mile. You may call the Libby Ranger Station to check on opening dates.
