Smokejumper Visitor Center

GIFT SHOP, MUSEUM, NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE, SPECIALTY TOUR | Missoula

The Smokejumper Visitor Center, located in Missoula, Montana, is part of the largest smokejumper base in the country. The Smokejumper Visitor Center provides a unique and interactive opportunity to learn about this demanding and important occupation. The free tour of the facility includes a visit to the Smokejumper loft, the ready room, and the National Smokejumper memorial. There is also a gift shop and museum, which includes a fire lookout tower originally built in 1930. During the summer, Smokejumper aircraft are also present, and visitors may even see Smokejumpers dispatched to a fire.

In September, tours are available at 10 and 11am & 2 and 4pm Monday-Friday. The tour takes approximately 45 minutes and is free of charge.

October-November, Open Weekdays, tours on a reduced schedule. Call for availability.

December-January - Closed
