Trail Ends: Junction with Trail 46

Pilot Knob Trail (1314) is the short route to Pilots Knob. At the top you can see mountain ranges all over western Montana. There are big boulders for free or technical climbing. High dry country with big Ponderosa Pine Trees. Bring water. This trail is not maintained in the winter.

  • Take Highway 12 from Lolo past Lolo Hot Springs to Fish Creek Road 343. Follow Fish Creek Road approximately 2 miles to Granite Creek Road 9942, turn right on 4209 and continue approximately 1 mile to Road 17188. The trailhead North Fork Granite and Pilots Knob is at the end of the road. The North Fork leaves the Knob Trail within a mile.Take Highway 12 from Lolo past Lolo Hot Springs to Fish Creek Road 343. Follow Fish Creek Road approximately 2 miles to Granite Creek Road 9942, turn right on 4209 and continue approximately 1 mile to Road 17188.
