Trailhead: Trail 1314 West of Lolo Hot Springs via Forest Service Road 9942, 4209 and 17188

Trail Ends: Trail 316.1

North Fork Granite Trail (5) is north of the Pilots Knob trail. It follows the Bitterroot Divide to Granite Peak. This is high dry country with Ponderosa Pine forest. There is no drinking water available along the trail, so please remember to bring you own water. You can see all over western Montana from there so you'll want a map.

  • Take Highway 12 from Lolo past Lolo Hot Springs to Fish Creek Road 343. Follow Fish Creek Road approximately 2 miles to Granite Creek Road 9942, turn right on 4209 and continue approximately 1 mile to Road 17188. The trailhead North Fork Granite and Pilots Knob is at the end of the road. The North Fork leaves the Knob Trail within a mile.
