Elling House Arts & Humanities Center

CULTURAL CENTER, REGISTERED HISTORIC SITE | Virginia City

The beautiful, historic Elling House has been used for artistic and musical presentations since 1876 when it was the Elling family home. In the spirit of continuing this tradition, the current owner of the house, Toni James, and like-minded community members formed the Elling House Arts and Humanities Center (EHAHC) organization in late 2008. To cover the costs of presenting educational and entertainment programs to the surrounding area, the group applied to the Internal Revenue Service for designation as a tax exempt, non-profit organization under the IRS’s section 501(c)(3). Under that statute, an organization must be operated exclusively for charitable purposes and none of its earnings may benefit private individuals. The group may receive donations that are tax-deductible to the donor. This designation was granted in August 2009.

The Elling House is a small, intimate venue with limited seating. Event seating is on a first come, first served basis.
