Montana’s Spring Skiing

Don’t miss out on spring skiing, when you can catch some of the season’s best snow and sunny days. Check out these Montana spots for the last opportunity to enjoy winter adventures: 

Lookout Pass Ski and Snowboard Resort (closes mid-April weather permitting): Lookout Pass straddles the border of Idaho and Montana, so guests are able to ski between two time zones. Lookout Pass has 1,023 skiable acres with diverse terrain for all levels of skiers. 

Great Divide Ski Area (closes April 5 with bonus days on some weekends): This ski area sits atop Mount Belmont, a 7,300-foot peak near the Continental Divide. Known for being Montana’s sunniest ski area, the mountain offers 127 trails and is the perfect spot to enjoy a bluebird day on the slopes. 

Discovery Ski Area (closes April 6): Located in southwest Montana, Discovery Ski Area features seven lifts and 67 runs, offering a classic ski experience. This area has 2,200 acres of diverse, uncrowded terrain across three faces, ranging from beginner groomers to steep backside bowls. 

Lost Trail Ski Area (closes April 5): Lost Trail has been a family-owned, snowy haven for over 80 years. Standing at an elevation of 7,000 feet, it features over 60 trails, five double chairlifts, three rope tows and 1,800 acres of terrain. 

  • Lost Trail SKIESTA is the ski area’s end-of-season celebration on March 28. 

Showdown Montana (closes April 12): Tucked away among the Little Belt Mountains, Showdown offers an authentic Montana ski experience without the crowds and features terrain for all levels. The women-owned and family-run ski area is also the oldest operating ski area in the state. 

Whitefish Mountain Resort (closes April 5): Whitefish Mountain Resort is defined by its 3,000 acres of terrain, with a wide variety for all ages and levels. On clear days, the summit offers spectacular panoramic views of Glacier National Park and the Flathead Valley. The season's final weeks feature signature community events, including the Pond Skim on April 4. 

Big Sky Resort (closes April 26): Spring skiing at Big Sky Resort, often called the "secret season," is defined by a unique combination of high-elevation corn snow cycles, expansive terrain with thinner crowds and a festive atmosphere featuring free, on-mountain concerts.
