- The Downstream Campground, Kiwanis Park and Beaver Creek Nature Trail (Fort Peck, MT): Fort Peck has expanded its winter recreation offerings with newly groomed trails.
- Dog Creek Lodge (Olney, MT): In winter, Dog Creek Lodge, surrounded by Stillwater State Forest and overlooking Dog Lake, opens 17+ miles of groomed Nordic trails that span private and state forest land.
- Chief Joseph Pass (Wisdom, MT): Chief Joseph Pass offers over 13 miles of groomed ski trails with a range of difficulty, allowing all ages and abilities to enjoy.
- Homestake Lodge (Whitehall, MT): Homestake offers over 21 miles of trails, including approximately 10 miles of dog-friendly trails, and provides skiers an intimate experience with nature. The lodge ranked 6th in USA Today’s Top Ten Cross-Country Ski Resorts in North America in 2023.
- Silver Crest Winter Recreation Area (Neihart, MT): Silver Crest has 12 miles of marked and groomed cross-country touring trails, just 7 miles south of Neihart at Kings Hill Winter Recreation Area. Three warming huts offer a reprieve along the trails. Three miles of snowshoe trails are available in the interior of the ski trail system.
- Boundary Ski and Snowshoe Trail (West Yellowstone): This is a great option for those who enjoy skiing with their dogs. A 5-mile trail at the northern edge of West Yellowstone, the trail is a popular spot for locals and hugs Yellowstone National Park’s western border, where elk, bison and deer frequent the area.
- Riverside Ski Trail (West Yellowstone): The Riverside Trail is a popular option, with an approach trail that leads to loop trail options: the Downriver Loop and Upriver Loop. The Riverside Ski Trail can be reached directly from Yellowstone National Park’s West Entrance.
