Elk Mountain Trail

NATIONAL FOREST TRAIL |

Elk Mountain Trail (107) provides a hike that takes only a few hours and is fairly easy. The trail is in good condition and leads up to Elk Mountain and the old lookout, winding through dense forests with lupine covered slopes and wide meadows. The last mile of this trail is over rock outcrops and there are few trail markers other than rock cairns. The lookout provides magnificent views of the Cabinet Mountains and the Whitefish and Galton Mountain Ranges. Length: 3.5 miles Trail Begins: Road 3503 Trail Ends: Elk Mountain Lookout Area Map: Kootenai National Forest Visitors Map USGS Map1: Bowen Lake Township 32N; Range 26W; Section 34
